Pro Wrestling Review: Future Wwe Championship Challengers

What's up everybody and welcome back to Pro Wrestling Review. First off I would like to apologize for not having an Extreme Rules review up yet. With finals last week and me getting sick with a very bad cold I just haven't got around to it. I actually haven't even seen the ppv yet. I will try to watch it and do a review in the next few days.

Now onto this article, I'm guessing that John Cena will stay wwe champion until at least summerslam probably longer if his ankle injury doesn't get worse. I also think that his match with Ryback will probably be their last together. So that asks the question who will be his next challenger? Well I have some suggestions.

Daniel Bryon

I would really like to see a feud between Cena and Bryon and I think that wwe could easily break up team hell no. They kind of got bland back in January and have just been floating along. Lately though I've been a lot more interested in them because of the fantastic matches that they're having with the shield. While they are a group that will go down in wwe history I think it's nearing time for the team to dissolve.

I've heard some people wanting wwe to make Bryon a top baby face after the team splits up. At first I was dead set against turning him face but now I actually think it could work. I kind of like the idea of a some what crazy to face, almost a tweener. They do desperately need more top baby faces and if wwe did it right it it would be a very cool character that you don't see everyday for a face.

While I'm open to the idea of Daniel as face I also see a lot of potential for him as a heel. I would love to see him turn back to the crazy heel character that he was last summer. Wwe also needs more top heels and I think that Bryon could fill that void as well.

I like the idea of a John Cena/Bryon feud. We all know about the great matches that Cena and CM Punk have had and since Bryon and Punk's styles are very similar I think that he could put on some good matches with Cena. Daniel Bryon would definitely be my first choice to face Cena for the title.

Chris Jericho

Jericho would probably have to turn heel again but I'd be perfectly fine with that. I much prefer that amazing heel character that he played from 2008 to 2010 and then again last year to this character he has now. While I like Y2J I think he's much more talented as a heel. It looks like Jericho's entering into a feud with CM Punk right now but I'm guessing that'll be over by summerslam. He is gone a lot for tours with his band Fozzy but I'm sure they could work around that. I would like to Jericho get at least one more title chase in his career and I think that now is the perfect opportunity. They have Jericho in the company at the moment so they should take advantage of that and use him.

Mark Henry

I also would like to see a Mark Henry John Cena feud. Henry is probably one of the best built heels that they have right now and I think that they should really take advantage of that as well. I would like to see him  help out the smackdown main event scene but he could also be useful on raw.

Now on the Extreme Rules aftershow he said that he was going home and walked away. I'm hoping that he won't be gone until mania next year though. I'm a big fan of his character and I'd love to see him in another world title feud.

This would probably be a stimulation match similar to the ones that Cena's been having with Ryback. The idea of a feud between Henry and Cena sounds very exciting to me.

CM Punk

With CM Punk being revealed to be back to face Chris Jericho at Payback I think he's a another likely candidate to face Cena at summerslam. I could see his feud Jericho going into money in the bank but I think he'd be done by summerslam. A match between Punk and Cena would definitely be a big seller for the ppv since Punk and Cena always have great matches together. I'd love see them restart their feud.

Christian

Another possibility could be Christian, he came back a little over a year ago and got injured again I think sometime in July or august of last year. I was surprised that he didn't return for wrestlemania this year and I think that he should now be recovered from his injury. I really liked Christian's heel character that he played in 2011 and I would love to see it come back again. I'd also love to see him back in the main event, heck I'd love to just see him back in the wwe for that matter.

If this feud does end up happening I would say even give the wwe championship to him. I think they could have at least decent matches. That feud I would like to see if for nothing less just to see Christian again.

Dolph Ziggler

The next few are kind of out there possibilities that I doubt will really happen. Since wwe hasn't been doing much with the WHC there's been some talk about unifying the title with the wwe championship. Cena and Ziggler could start up then feud that they had going on late last year.

I really doubt this match will happen though, for one I don't want to see the titles unified and two I think it would just end up burying Ziggler and do a lot of damage to his character.

Jack Swagger

This is another kind of out their possibility. Swagger has been looking very good lately. That just goes to show you what good build up will do to for somebody. When Jack Swagger left last year he was basically jobber and when he returned I didn't give two cents about him but now with the build up that he's gotten I've actually kind of become a fan of him. I just wish that Dolph Ziggler would have gotten some of that build up since he is the world heavyweight champion. With Zeb Coulter with him I think he could have a good feud with Cena and hopefully a decent match. I think him losing in the end could hurt his character a little bit but I think with Zeb Coulter with him he would be ok.

Pro Wrestling Review: Extreme Rules Preditions

Welcome back to Pro Wrestling Review, today I'll be giving my thoughts and predictions on WWE Extreme Rules 2013.

Pre Show: The Miz vs Cody Rhodes

Unfortunately I don't give two cents about this match. That's not a good thing since a year and a half ago if I had to pick two people to be the next top heels I'd probably pick these two. In the last year though wwe hasn't done anything with either of them, there both in no storylines and there is pretty much no feud leading into this match. One week Cody Rhodes is in a tag team (probably jobbing) and the next he's jobbing as a singles wrestler. Wwe has got to fix their midcard.

Pick: The Miz

Randy Orton vs The Big Show

This feud has been ok, nothing notable has really come out of it though. I hope that it'll be a good match, with the added stimulation I think there is a possibility of that.

Pick Randy Orton

Strap Match: Sheamus vs Mark Henry

This feud I have been liking for the most part, starting it out by having Mar Henry just attack Sheamus in the back was a good move I think. I've really been liking how they've been building up Henry. I've been a big fan of him since 2011 when he became the monster heel that he is now. Having him just brutally beat Sheamus with a strap was very entertaining and I don't know if it was real or not but those pictures of Sheamus's back were afterwords were very brutal.

I'm not sure about the strap stimulation, I'd have much rather had and extreme rules or tables type match. I'm not the biggest fan of the strap match so we'll see.

I'm hoping that Henry can get the win here I think that would help him out some. I'm hoping that he gets either a wwe or world heavyweight title push soon. I could see this feud going on to at least one more ppv.

Pick: Mark Henry

Wwe TT Title Match: Shield Members Rollins & Reigns vs Daniel Bryon and Kane (Tornado TT match)

This is probably the match that I'm looking forward to the most on the card. I really liked the TLC one from last year and I think this one will be good to. I do wish that Ambrose was in the match but I don't think that that will hurt it to much. I fully expect the Shield to get the win and I hope team hell no will break up after it because I think that tag team has going on for way to long.

This match should be very entertaining and I can't wait to see it.

Pick: The Shield

U.S. Title Match: Shield Member Dean Ambrose vs Kofi Kingston

This should also be a good match, no it could be a great match. I'm expecting Ambrose to get the win here. I can see that wwe sees the potential in him and they're pursuing his singles career. I've said it before and I'll say it again I think that there's big things on the horizon for Dean Ambrose. Hopefully they do something with Kofi afterwards, maybe a heel turn or a big feud.

Pick: Dean Ambrose

Steel Cage Match: Triple H vs Brock Lesnar

I was kind of surprised that they're having this match for a third time. The build ups been ok, the whole text message thing was very strange with Triple H sending a message saying that he wouldn't be on raw and then coming there and pedigreeing Paul Heyman. It came off very strange to me and didn't make sense with Triple H being a face.

Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman breaking into Triple H's office was definitely my favorite part of the feud for this match. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't have really cared about the feud at all. The brawl on raw this week I thought was ok, it seems like most of the time when these two fight on raw Triple H always gets the better of it.

I think that 100% Brock has to win this match. Wwe and Paul Heyman have been building him up a ton since he's been back and I think that a loss here could hurt his character. He's supposed to be this huge monster but so far he's only won one of his three matches since coming back. If he loses another match it will make him look bad. Triple H losing on the other hand won't hurt anything I don't think. He lost both of his matches to The Undertaker at wrestlemania and his character is fine. Brock needs to get the win.

Also I have to give props to Paul Heyman, I'd say he's one of the top three mic workers in the company. The way he built up the no holds barred and the steel cage match was amazing. Two not that out of the ordinary matches. He's also done a wonderful job building up Brock Lesnar. If it wasn't for him Lesnar wouldn't be the wonderful character that he is now. I love seeing him back in wwe with CM Punk and especially Brock Lesnar.

As for the actual match I hope that it will be good, I didn't like the summerslam match but I did like the Wrestlemania one. I would have rather they made this a hell in a cell match that's a little bit more of a feud ending match.

Pick: Brock Lesnar

Chris Jericho vs Fandango

I haven't really been liking this feud much at all. With Jericho gone half the time on tours with his band I think and then them not really starting the main feud soon enough it's been choppy. Also can they think of a better commercial for raw than advertising Chris Jericho vs Fandango in a........dance off! That's got to be the worst commercial for raw that I've ever seen. It made them looks very silly.

I think the match should be at least fairly good especially since Jerichos in it. I see him getting the win and then hopefully they put him into title feud.

Pick: Chris Jericho

Wwe Championship Match (Last Man Standing): John Cena vs Ryback

This feud hasn't really done that much for me. I really liked the first promo that Ryback cut as a heel that was pre recorded. Other than that the feuds also been kind of choppy. They've each just been hitting their finishers on each other after attacks from the shield. Then the promo last week I really didn't like, Cena was making all these jokes, one or two might have been ok but was making tons of them. It made it seem like one he didn't care about the match and two it made him look stupid. When he's supposed to this be this tough guy that you root for and then he goes and makes these most of the time just dumb jokes it makes him look like idiot.

Then when it looked like they might get into a fight Ryback was saying "hold on big guy I'm not fighting you till Sunday". First why are you calling Cena big guy I think it's the other way around and two he shouldn't be backing down from a fight with. It makes him look a lot like less of a monster.

The feuds not been very good for me and I'm not sure about Ryback as a heel. At first I was all for it but now I'm not so sure. I just can't buy that he has to cheat to win, I mean look at him. I think that they should build him as a monster kind of like Brock Lesnar and Mark Henry where you don't like him because he beats up everybody. This cowardly character that has to cheat isn't a good character for him.

I think the match will be pretty good, if it was a regular match I don't think it would be but a last man standing one could be. I don't think they'll put the title on Ryback since he's so early into this new gimmick. I just hope that Cena doesn't get injured more because if he does then wwe's in trouble since they haven't built anyone else up to take his spot.

Pick: John Cena

Overall the ppv looks promising, I think the stipulations will make most of the matches pretty good.

Pro Wrestling Review: The Shield

Hello everyone in this edition of Pro Wrestling Review I'm going to be talking about probably one of the best booked stables in a long time The Shield. I had been waiting for wwe to drop the ball with this group but its been six months and they're being booked the same or better than when they first started. By about this time the nexus was beginning to fall apart. I really like how they haven't lost any matches at least as a group and they really seem like a dangerous stable.

Wwe has been booking their midcard so badly lately that I'm glad these three are in a stable and not really involved in the it. I wish wwe could build the rest their talent up like this. All three of these superstars have tons of potential.

I'm glad that Roman Reigns is in this stable, with how wwe books people these days I think that he especially would just end up like Mason Ryan and other big guys that's career's didn't go anywhere. In this stable they can get him established before he goes out on his own.

I was always a big fan of Tyler Black in ROH, even though he's not the best on the mic he's put on some amazing matches. He is very entertaining to watch in the ring. Now that Rollins has finally been pulled up from FCW (he was down there for about two years which seemed too long) I think he can be a big name. Rollins has the look of a babyface and with the stuff he does in the ring I think the fans will have no problem getting behind him. If wwe builds him right he could be a top name in the company.

I'm really becoming a huge fan of Dean Ambrose, he's probably one of the best superstars on the mic in the world rigjt now. He's great as the main mouth piece for the shield but you should see some of his promos from FCW and the independence. His promos are amazing. Just look up some of his stuff on youtube back when he was Jon Moxley and even in Fcw. Most heels now days are just Arrogant jerks, and most of the time they're cowards. Dean Ambrose on the other is a really great actor you could say. He can make you think that he's crazy and he just delivers his lines so well. There's something different about him, the way he talks, his expressions. He is not at all a cookie cutter heel. Ambrose is part of a very rare breed in pro wrestling, he is good in the ring, pretty much unmatched on the mic, and not the same as all the other characters. He's very new and fresh. He's not the typical superstar and wwe's managed to get their hands on him so they need to use him right.

I think wwe is realizing that too because they're having him have singles matches with Kane and The Undertaker on smackdown. This first of all makes smackdown worth watching again and maybe it would get people to watch the rest of it too. (I wish they could they get Dolph Ziggler to make people watch instead of giving him no build up and making him lose all the time.) I think wwe should have advertised those matches more on like raw and main event though because if you didn't hear it online or on wwe.com you wouldn't even know those matches were taking place. I wouldn't mind seeing Dean Ambrose have the main event matches on smackdown for the next few weeks it's good for him and that can make smackdown watchable until they build up Dolph Ziggler.(Assuming they'd actually be smart enough to do that.) Having Ambrose have main event matches on smackdown also shows that wwe is to going to try to build him right (which is a rare thing these days.) I would go so far to say that if wwe plays their cards right Ambrose could be the next big name of the wwe, the next Stone Cold Steve Austin.

I really hope that wwe keeps booking the shield well. It looks like they'll be facing the tag team champions Kane and Daniel Bryon at Extreme Rules. Now I'm not sure how that's gonna work since the shield is three and the champions are two. I'm not sure if they would all be champions under the freebird rule or if only curtain members would be champions. I could see Rollins and Ambrose being a team or maybe since Dean has been having singles matches on smackdown maybe it would be Rollins and Reigns. Maybe Ambrose could win the U.S. or IC title. I'm hoping to see all of them in the match I wouldn't want to see one of them not doing anything on ppv. I would have The Undertaker on Kane and Bryon's team but considering his age and that wwe needs him for wrestlemania next year I don't know if an extreme rules match is the best idea for him. They could also put somebody else on the champions team it wouldn't be that hard to do find somebody that the shield has attacked in the last six months. I could also see Dean Ambrose face like Kofi Kingston for the U.S. title at the ppv. I just hope that all three members are involved in the ppv.

I hope that once the shield starts to win titles in the wwe that they will actually get into feuds with people over the titles. I don't want it to be like with the aces and eights where Devon is the tv champion but you wouldn't know it because he never gets into any type of feud over it. I hope that they make the shield's match against Kane and Daniel Bryon like an extreme rules or even a ladder match. The match they had at TLC with Ryback on Kane and Bryon's team was really good and I would love to see another one like it.

I'm officially getting behind this group. I really like the idea for the stable with black ops type uniforms and everything. More importantly though I really like the superstars in the Shield. I really hope that that wwe continues to use these superstars right after the shield eventually dissolves when ever that might. If wwe books them correctly they could be a big part of the company's future.
