Pro Wrestling Review #3 Fav 5 vol. 1

Welcome to another edition of Pro Wrestling Review. Today I'm going to give my current "fav five" of current wrestlers. So lets get into it.

5. The Miz

The Miz used to be truely awesome when he had the wwe championship last year. He was very entertaining and I was, glad he was on top of the wwe. But then they kind of dropped the ball. He kept losing and his carrer was going downhill. Then, when he got back from filming The Marine 3 he won the Intercontinental title. He was still in the midcard but moving up.

Now it looks like wwe is going to turn him face. There have been rumers about this for a long time but i was hoping that wwe wouldn't really do it. It just dosn't seem like it would work for him and like Mick Foley said the jury is still out on him (as a face). The Miz could slide off this list very fast. I don't see that much potential with a face Miz. Definitely not a world champion. I just don't get wwe's problem here, The Miz isn't hard to write for. He is the perfect heel he, arogant, cocky, he even calls himself awesome. It's not like he has a hard character to write for. Wwe needs to get him back to where he was when he was world champion.

4. Daniel Bryon

I used to not be a fan of Daniel Bryon in the wwe. In 2010 and most of 2011 he very boring. I didn't give two cents about him. He had no character, he wasn't intimidating and just all around boring. He still had lots of fans from his work ROH but in wwe he wasn't very good. But then he won the money in the bank and wwe did exactly what they're doing with Dolph Ziggler absolutely nothing. They just threw the briefcase on him and figured that he'd become a main event class superstar overnight...and that's pretty much what happened.

WWE got lucky and Daniel Bryon became a completely different person. He was charismatic and obviously great in the ring. He was great. Now even though it may not be the best use of his talent, the Hell No tag team is very funny. Although I just hope wwe doesn't end up leaving Bryon in the tag team too long. He needs get back to the main event soon. Still though he's one of the best superstars wwe has today.

3. CM Punk

Cm Punk is kind of and on with me. Sometimes he's great like in the summer of 2011. Then sometimes he's not as great like in the early part of the summer of 2012. For lots of this year he just kind of turned into a tattooed version John Cena. Now that Punk has turned heel he's been great. He is definitely the most entertaining part of raw and with Paul Heyman at his side he's great. When Punk is at his best I think the best in the world title isn't that far off.

2. Wade Barrett

I've always really liked Wade Barrett ever since the nexus. But when he started the barett barage he late last year he got really good. His feud Randy Orton was great and they had some really amazing matches. It was very unfortunate that he got injured after the elimination chamber. They were giving him a huge push. I wonder if one of the reasons that smackdown was bad this year was maybe because they were gonna have Sheamus and Barrett feud. Which was still no excuse for that awful summer. But I do think they really want to push this guy and I hope that they do.

1. Bobby Roode

As you might know I'm a huge fan Bobby Roode so it's no surprise that he's number one. I've been a fan of this guy for a while. Even years ago you could still tell he had tons of talent. He great in Beer Money. Then when he the bound for glory series Roode was great as a baby face. But his best work came when he turned heel. Oh my gosh it was amazing. His world title reign was great.

I think this guy has everything "the IT Factor if you will" to become TNA's biggest star. They have had people like AJ Styles who is awesome in the ring but not as much on the mic. I think Roode has everything. He's great on the mic, very good in the ring, got the look, pretty much everything you look for in wrestler he has. I'm glad that TNA capitalized on him. Remember back in 2003 when Triple H was pretty much the face of wwe and he was a heel. That's what they need to do with Roode and so far it's going great.

Pro Wrestling Review #2: Sheamus

Sheamus used to be one of the top and most entertaining heels in the wwe, but what happened to him after that, how did he become the unentertaining face that he is now. In the second edition of Pro Wrestling Review will analyze Sheamus’s career in the wwe so far.

First for a brief history lesson. Sheamus used one of the biggest heels in the wwe. He started on ECW in 2009, but only stayed the there for a few months before moving up to Monday Night Raw. Then about a month later he beat the face of the wwe John Cena to win his first WWE championship an TLC 2009. This is something few young superstars have done and most only hope to do, but
Sheamus did it in about five months of being in wwe.

Now at first many people would say he was shoved down our throats so to speak, which i agree with. He then lost it at the Elimination Chamber but would then go into the feud which would arguably make his career with Triple H. He fought HHH at Wrestlemania 26 but ended up losing. This made a lot of people angry. Although then at Extreme Rules he had attacked Triple H before their match. Then eventually ended up ruthlessly beating Triple H, and after the match ended TripleH's day to day wrestling career by attacking him again with a pipe. This was the biggest win of the Celtic Warrior's career and he came out of it looking very strong. He then went on to win the WWE championship again and feuded with wrestlers such as Randy Orton and John Morrison.

But then after he won the 2010 King of the Ring his character went stale it. It looked like he might slide down to the mid card. But wwe turned him face. Now i never really liked the face character very much but i understood why they did it. If not he would of probably ended up in the mid card. At that point his face character was good he very aggressive and all around could beat anyone up. You could tell that they were getting ready to give him a huge push.

But then in December they just seemed to forget about him. He had some strange feud with Jinder Mahal and then won the royal rumble. You could tell that they had had a big plan for him but then they just got lazy. Even after the royal rumble they still didn't handle him right. His feud with Daniel Bryon was very boring and they only had like one face to face confrontation. I figured that if they had a good match at wrestlemania it would make up for the bad feud. But no they had to do the 18 second "burial" of Daniel Bryon which turned out to actually help him and comleteley screw up Sheamus.

Since Wrestlemania Sheamus has been the most uninteresting person in the wwe. He went from being a face that could beat up anybody to just a nice baby face. Now if that's how he is real life then he seems like a nice guy but in wwe that character dosen't work for him. He dosen't seem intimidating at all anymore and his promos are terrible.

WWE also isn't doing anything about it. This summer they just put him in feud with Alberto Del Rio where they had 4 ppv matches together. They shouldn't even have had two. Then all the matches ended the same Sheamus brogue kicked Del Rio. If they want these two to have even an ok feud they should have at least had the title change hands.

Thankfully they finally got title of him and put it on The Big Show

They need to figure out a way to fix Sheamus. He's a good fighter when he's aggressive but they have to make him into a Randy Orton type face. He doesn't have to become a complete baby face. He can still be aggressive and have some heel characteristics. They need to put his character back to how it was last summer, a face but aggressive and could beat anyone up.

It seems like wwe has just gotten lazy lately. You could tell they had something big planned for him but then they just kinda went along and didn't put any effort into him.

This isn't just Sheamus. This summer wwe has been worse than it's been for years. They came off of huge wrestlemania dubbed the greatest wrestlemania of all time and then its like they decided to just take the rest of year off. Now usually one brand is better than the other but this Has been an entire company problem. WWE has got to start caring about all of the company and John Cena or the wwe championship.

I still think think that Sheamus's carreer can be salvaged but wwe has to start actually paying attention and putting some effort into his character.

Pro Wrestling Review # 1: The Tag Team Division

    Pro Wrestling Review
                                          #1: The Tag Team Division

Wwe’s tag team division used to be one of the biggest spectacles of the wwe, but lately though, it’s been an afterthought and something to fill time on ppvs.

In my first couple of articles I’m going to be analyzing the current state of wwe. My first article will be on the tag team division.

Lets first have a brief history lesson on the tag team division. It had its highest point in the late 1990s with names such as the Hardy Boyz, the Dudleys, D generation X and my one of my favorite Edge and Christian (hence where my twitter name came from). Then the division was a pretty good throughout most of the last decade especially lately with teams such as Jerisho and especially the new DX. But after that it’s all gone downhill. Once the hart dynasty got those new ugly dang championships its all gone bad. We’ve had fringin Santino Marella and Vladimir Kosov as the champions which was funny the first couple weeks and then became a disaster. Then we get the new nexus, oh jeez this team went on forever and was mostly on wwe superstars once CM Punk went on to become the wwe champion.

Then it looked like wwe might try to improve the division with Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston which looked great. But then Evan Bourne screwed the wwe over by getting a wellness policy violation. He also screwed himself since this was the biggest push of his career. But wwe was apparently still believed in the team because they had Kofi Kingston just carry around his tag team belt like it was a singles championship while Evan served his suspension. So Evan Bourne returned and reformed air bourne. But Evan wasn’t done, oh no. He decided to completely throw his career off a cliff and screw Kofi and the wwe again. That’s right he got another violation. So at that point wwe was done with the team and had air bourne lose the belts to Primo and Epico. We haven’t seen Bourne since, way to ruin your career kid.

After that it got worse Primo and Epico were mostly on superstars and then they lost the belts to Kofi and R-truth, oh and little Jimmy of course. Which should have totally been called two and half men. This team was basically a reimaging of air bourne. But wwe completely messed up this team too. They kind of made us forget about them. With the whole Team Teddy and team Laurinaitis they had lots of matches not together and it was hard to remember that they were the champions. Then after that wwe mainly just put them on superstars or for short time killer matches on Raw and PPVs.

So as you can see the tag team division has had its highs and lows, but lately it seems like the only one that cares about the tag team division is Teddy Long.

But all joking aside the wwe does really need improve their division and get it back up to what it used be. Because the tag team division could soon be gone completely like the cruiserweight division. That really would hurt the company. Wrestling shows and PPVs are partly built with real tag team matches (not just thrown together Teddy Long matches) and cruiserweight type matches to start of the show and really get fans into it. We have to have those fast paced fun matches. There’s already no cruiserweight division wwe really can’t afford to lose this as well.

The show is also of course built on the wwe championship matches as well, which seems to be all that wwe cares about these days. That and whatever John Cenas in, even if it’s the worst and most uncared about match ever, cena vs Laurinaitis. Yeah just worry about that and forget about all other divisions, the divas, midcard, tag team, even the world heavy weight championship. All of these divisions once great and working together to make and a great show. But no let’s just worry about Cena and the wwe championship (which they haven’t been doing very well with either). Well guess what smart guy you gotta make the fans stay and watch the main event. Now I Know they probably won’t stop watching something they already paid for (I don know though some of this stuff has been pretty bad) but sure as heck aren’t gonna buy it next month.

Now I’m not saying the tag team division will solve all of wwe’s problems I’ll get in to other things in different articles. But the tag team division is very important, this where other companies outclass the wwe because they have good tag teams. Tna has had a pretty good division over the years, it’s had it’s problems but it’s had names like the motorcity machine guns, The Young Bucks, Americas Most Wanted and in my opinion one of the best tag teams of the latter part of the last decade Beer Money (that is a little biased coming from a huge Beer Money mark). Then Ring of Honor has also had a pretty good division with the All Night Express, The Briscoes, The Kings of Wrestling, the American Wolves, and many more. WWE has to get their division back together

Some things they need to do to do that is

o      1. Stop having the champions off TV for periods of time, it makes people forget about them and not care about them

        2. Some actual good teams, not jobbers randomly thrown together because they’re both of the same race or just two jobers. Last year I thought that wwe needs to just use all these people who would be in the cruiserweight division and make them teams, but now they can’t do that because the midcarders back then have become such uncared about jobbers that you just get more teams that no one had any interest in the first place. Then wwe doesn’t help that by doing doing the 1st thing I said not to do. Last year wwe was said to be redoing the tag team division, there was rumors that they were looking in to hiring tag teams like beer money (which I’m glad they didn’t because both those guys are great in Tna right now)and also some from Ring of Honor. But none of that ended up happening. Also they have right Antonio Cesaro aka Claudio Castagnoli and in development apparently they have Chris Hero. Antonio Cesaro’s gimmick is ok at best but for some stupid reason they made him drop Askana which just made him worse. So why not start the tag team back up. Also guys like Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd need to become a real team and not just two jobbers who happen to be a team.

3.Act like you care. If we can tell that the wwe creative doesn’t give two cents about the tag team division then why should we. They need to really make it seem like the division maters in the company.

Now lately the wwe has been doing some things to make it better. I really like the Daniel Bryon and Kane thing (even though Bryon should really be world champion right now) it’s great that they’re at least using them in something. Still it seems more about them than the belts which just look like props it’s still good that they’re champions. Also we had Damian Sadow and Cody Rhodes (even though Cody should definitely be a world champ now) become a team. That's a good paring so they don’t just slip off the card. Also Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara is a great team and the Prime Time Player(who really need AW) attacked Rey and Sin Cara on raw. So wwe can fix this division they just need to get serious about it.

(Feel free to tell me on Twitter @ENC98 what thought of my article. What you agreed with, what you didn’t ect. I will try to make a new article about every week so stay tooned to Pro Wresting Review.)
