Pro Wrestling Review: John Cena Injury

Wwe.com recently posted on their website that John Cena was injured during the recent European tour. Today in Pro Wrestling Review I'm going to be talking about that big news and possible big problem for wwe.

I'm not sure how serious the injury is, the best case scenario for wwe here would be if it's a some what minor injury. The best case would be if he was still going to be ready for Extreme Rules against Ryback. I think if he has to skip extreme rules though wwe could probably manage. They already have Triple H and Brock Lesnar booked so they could use that to really sell the show. Then I would say have Undertaker, Kane, and Daniel Bryon vs The Shield but seeing as they already did that match on raw I don't it would as big but I think that it could still work. I would make it a street fight or tables match like they had at TLC last year. I think that would be a step up from the match on raw and would sell be able to the ppv. Luckily the only person or persons in this case that wwe has build up properly recently has been The Shield. I think that with them The Undertaker and HHH vs Brock they could sell this event without a wwe title match. It's also extreme rules so most the other matches should also be very good with the added stimulation.

It looked like on smackdown that that the shield had taken Undertaker out of the picture for a while but luckily for wwe it wasn't completely clear if that was the case or if it was just an attack, I think they could bring Undertaker back to sell one more ppv. I was originally thinking that a rematch from raw was where they were going with this story line anyway.

If they want to I think they could even make it a tag team title match as well. Judging from the shield's recent promos is looked like they were going to face Kane and Bryon for belts. They really need the Undertaker's name in the match so maybe it could be a six man TLC match. It would make since because The Undertaker doesn't want the group that layed him on smackdown to take the tag team belts from his brother Kane and Daniel Bryon. Then the Shield could win the match and lay out the Undertaker in a more destructive way. They would be able to do that easily in a way that wouldn't make him look bad, have Bryon and Kane layed out and then all three members of the shield could destroy Undertaker. What would be cool would be if they put him through a burning table but I don't see anything like that happening since Undertaker hasn't been in the best shape the last couple of years and they need him next year for wrestlemania. The ironic thing is this would be the second time that Ryback is pulled out of a wwe title match due to someone being injured.

So I think they can pull off Extreme Rules without Cena but what do they do if Cena is going to be out for a matter of months because of this injury. Then they're really in a bad position. Wwe hasn't really built anyone up this last year and the midcard currently looks like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off. It looked like Wade Barrett and Miz were going to have feud and then it looked like Barrett would feud with R Truth and then Justin Gabriel. All of those not coming to pass. Same way on the U.S. Title side it looked like Antonio Cesaro was going to have a feud with Kofi Kingston but it never happened. It's like the creative team has no idea what feuds to make or just doesn't care. Well they should care because one they need to have a future of young superstars ready and not pass up any potential talents by not giving them the right build. Two they need to be prepared for a situation like this.

John Cena hadn't been wwe champion for over a year so I'm guessing this was going to be a long title reign for him, probably at least up to summerslam. Wwe really doesn't have any big faces that they can bring up and they probably planned their future storylines to have a face champion (John Cena) in them so it would be hard for them to use a heel as champ. Even if they did bring CM Punk back which I don't think they should do since he needs time off it would still be challenging because he is a heel.

Sheamus has had a terrible character with no development invested into him for the last year. Alberto Del Rio isn't in a much better state. I think that wwe cares about the wwe title enough that wouldn't put in on a character like Sheamus or Del Rio unlike the world heavyweight title where they really don't give two cents.

I could see Randy Orton being brought back as the top baby face of raw with the wwe title because even though he hasn't done much lately his character could still be salvaged. The only problem with that is that I think the reason Randy Orton hasn't been used very much lately is because of his recent wellness test failure back in July. If they put the wwe championship on him and then he gets another wellness test failure then they're back where they started because that would be his third time so according to the rule he would be released. In his dvd a few years ago he said that he had over come drugs so maybe last year was just a one time thing. You would think that if he was wwe champion he would be smart enough not to get another violation especially since he'd be released but then again when Jack Swagger was nearly world heavyweight champion earlier this year he was still found with drugs so you never know.

I don't think the Undertaker would be able to carry raw for the next few months considering he's already been doing more than he did last year post wrestlemania and they'll definitely need him for wrestlemania next year if they stay on the same road with not building any new stars. If they had to maybe Triple H could have one more title reign, I think he's in the shape to do it but he is very involved back stage and with how much he's already been doing on screen for wrestlemania I doubt he'd have time to be the top guy on raw again.

If they change their storylines around some for a heel champion then they could maybe give someone like Antonio Cesaro or Wade Barrett a rapid push and give them the wwe championship. As much as I would love to see Barrett or Cesaro as wwe champ their build up over the last couple months especially Wade Barrett's has been pretty much none existent so I think it would be pretty forced it they gave either of them the title now. I hope that they build both of them up a lot this year and this time next year maybe they will be ready.

A heel that they could put he title on fast would be Daniel Bryon. I don't think it would take too long to transition him from the tweener he is now back to the full fledged heel that he was last summer.

Another possibility that pops into my head is Christian. Now we haven't seen him since last summer and I would expect that he is healed up by now. As face or heel I think he would be a good choice if he is available. He's great in the ring and I think tons people me included would love to see Christian back and in the wwe title picture.

If Cena's injury is going to keep him out a while I'd say that their best options are to either put the title on Randy Orton and just hope that he doesn't get another violation. He still gets a very good pop and I think it wouldn't take long to establish him as a top face again. Or put it on Bryon, even though they would probably have to change their storylines around some I think it would be worth it. The last person would be Chris Jericho, he is on tour with fozzy a lot but if they had to they could the title on him. I'd love to see him have another title reign and it's not like wwe isn't used their champion being gone for a few weeks (The Rock) so I think Jericho would be OK as champion if they have to do that.

This is all the wwe's fault that they're in this position. They haven't build and maintained hardly anyone this past year and now they need another top person. They should build people up not only just to future top stars of the business but to also have people to take the place John Cena and CM Punk if needed.

Hopefully Cena's injury won't be too bad even though he could use a break just like Punk which I hope he gets soon wwe really doesn't have any backup guys. Hopefully he'll just be gone for maybe Extreme Rules and this can just be a wake up call to wwe that they need build up the rest of their roster and not just focus on the wwe championship picture. If not then they have a big problem on their hands.

Pro Wrestling Review: Wrestlemania 29 Review

The biggest wrestling event of the year recently went off the air and today I will be giving you all of my thoughts on the matches and feuds leading up to them.

Sheamus,Randy Orton, and The Big Show vs The Shield

I thought this was a pretty good way to open up the show. It was a fairly good match with the shield dominating somebody and then them getting the hot tag. The ending came when it looked like Sheamus was going to tag in The Big Show but Orton tagged instead. He was eventually over powered by The Shield and pinned with the Big Show looking on from the ring apron. Then after the match Big Show delivered the WMD to both Sheamus and Orton.

I was hoping that Randy Orton or Sheamus would turn heel in this match because I think that they both really need to. I was still pleased with the match and I've been liking the out come it with a feud between the three. One thing that I really liked about this match was that The Big Show didn't do anything until after the match. That way it still made The Shield look good with a win. I'm very glad that wwe did it that way and I'm looking forward to see what happens with The Shield, Undertaker, Kane, And Daniel Bryon.

Mark Henry vs Ryback

This match was very very bad. I thought this was going to be Rybacks match to win but surprisingly Mark Henry dominated most of it and then when Ryback attempted his finisher Mark Henry fell on him basically and then pinned Ryback. The match was in the ring way too much, I wanted to see them go all over the arena fighting but they didn't. This match should have seemed like more of a spectacle since it was two of wwe's biggest wrestlers but instead it was just a terrible match with a strange ending.

I am glad to see Henry get the win, I was afraid that he was only being brought back to for Ryback to feed on for lack of a better word. It looks like they are going to do something with him now and I'm glad about that because he is a really great heel in my opinion. I just hope we don't have a rematch between him and Ryback because this match was really terrible.

Wwe TT championship match: Bryon/Kane vs Ziggler/Langston

I wasn't ever very exited about this match, I don't know why they had Ziggler in it. I was expecting that it would be Ziggler vs Chris Jericho, that would have been really good for him since most of his build up has been terrible.

This was an ok match with Kane and Bryon getting the win. I did like how they played off of AJ's former relationships with both Kane and Daniel Bryon but other than that this was pretty much a useless feud and a useless feud isn't what Dolph Ziggler needs at wrestlemania right before he's going to become world heavyweight champ.

I am kind of interested to see what smackdown will be like now that Dolph is champion mainly just because it'll be something different. Considering how big of a fan I've been of Ziggler interested doesn't cut it. I should be very exited to see him as champ but instead he's just there. I really wish that wwe would have given the proper build up when their trying to make a new star. They need to realize that putting the money in the bank briefcase on someone won't magically make they into a main eventer.

Chris Jericho vs Fandgano

Even thought I wish it would have been Chris Jericho vs Dolph Ziggler I was still pleased with this feud. I liked Fandango and Jericho attacking each other and I'm hoping that the best is yet to come in this feud since it looks like it will be going into Extreme Rules.

I do think that Fandango's push came on a little too sudden but so far they're building him up to be a fighting heel and not just a coward. Also this Fandangoing thing has started to catch on and could maybe be the 2013 version of the yes chant.

WHC: Alberto Del Rio vs Jack Swagger with Zeb Coulter

I had really been liking this feud, without Zeb Coulter though it would have been a mess. He really did a ton to build Jack Swagger up. Even though Swagger got the jobber entrance it was also a pretty good match with Del Rio getting the win. I hope that wwe continues to use Zeb Coulter and I wouldn't mind seeing Jack Swagger get suspended now for being arrested with drugs earlier this year.

CM Punk vs The Undertaker

The feud going into this match I didn't really like that much, I thought using Paul Bearer to enhance it and really make it seem like the Undertaker had a reason to be mad at Punk was ok but they based the entire feud around it. I mean I would've liked to see some of what they were planning to do in the feud. Towards the end of the it I thought that CM Punk's segments got more disrespectful and I wish that they wouldn't have completely based the it on Paul Bearer.

The match though was wonderful and very enjoyably to watch. It is definitely a match that I'll watch again.

It looked like we would see the suicide dive by Taker but Paul Heyman blocked. Hey I'm not gonna complain though The Undertaker's almost 50 and he's putting on near five star matches. There was also what looked like a botch where Punk had had Undertaker laid out on the Spanish announce table and when he went to do the Macho Man elbow tribute onto him the table didn't break and they both just rolled off. That was kind of surprising and looked botched.

I really liked this match, The Undertaker's matches at wrestlemania are always the match of the night and this match was no exception. It wasn't as good as Shawn Michaels and Undertaker but it was definitely very entertaining.

No Holds Bared: Brock Lesnar vs HHH (with Shawn Michaels) HHH career on the line

The build up for this match was for the most pretty good, not as good the build up for their summerslam match but still pretty good. I thought putting Triple H's career on the line really put the feud in the next gear. Paul Heyman did wonderful as usual acting as the voice for Brock, in fact I'm not sure if Brock spoke at all during the feud.

The match was also pretty good, I was worried that it would not be because I didn't like their summerslam match. I was glad to see them go outside the ring and we also saw Shawn Michaels involved some too. When I heard his music hit I was pleasantly surprised because I'd actually forgot that he was in Triple H's corner for the match. At one point Brock punched him in the face and it looked like he was bleeding a little bit after the match. He also got an F5 after he tried to super kick Lesnar. It was nice to see in my opinion the greatest of all time again.

At the end of the match HHH and Lesnar put the submission hold that broke Triple H's arm on each other. That got little boring because it went on for a while. It ended with Triple H pedigreeing Brock onto the ring entrance steps and getting the win.

WWE Championship Match: The Rock vs John Cena

This match had hardly any build at all! As you may know if you've followed my youtube channel or pro wrestling review these last few months I really haven't liked how they got to this feud. I didn't like the wwe championship and especially the royal rumble match being involved but all that aside I figured it would still be a decent feud. The feud that these two had the last couple of years I thought was most of the time pretty enjoyable but this year it was not. Maybe that has something to with the Rock not being on tv for most of the time. I don't really blame the Rock for that though I blame wwe.

The match it's self was ok and a bit of an improvement from last year. There were a couple false finishes where I thought it was over so that made it more enjoyably. At the end of it though Rock and Cena kept countering into each other's finishers which got a little old. Even though I don't think it will ever happen (or at least not anytime soon) after listening to a few people on the internet I was getting a little bit suspicious that a John Cena heel turn would take place. I kept watching for it in the match and at one point I thought it might be happening, Cena had an almost a sinister look in his eye and it looked like he might have been turning but to no avail.

I know that I'm probably in the minority on this from what I've heard from most people on the internet but I personally didn't really mind them shaking hands after the match. I mean I don't know what else they would do if this was their last match together and Cena wasn't going to turn heel then what else was their to do. Either we just see them walk out and be done or the whole hand shake deal I didn't really mind it.

Someone said on twitter the other day that Vince McMahon had lost touch with the wwe universe and is just booking every match for the most money. I don't know if that's too far off. Now I'm not saying that they need to book a match that won't make any money and give someone like Zack Ryder the wwe championship just because some of the fans really like him. (Although they could at least acknowledge the reaction that he gets and give him some type of a push.) Even though I didn't like them putting the wwe championship on the Rock and using the the rumble match I was pretty much ok with Rock and Cena main evening wrestlemania I mean they are two of the biggest stars in company. What wwe has been doing lately though isn't going to lead them down a road to success. Since the Rock has been back they've sold the last three wrestlemanias on mostly his name. It doesn't stop there though having Raw gets rocked the rock comes back to raw the rock returns (anyone think it's odd that the Rock was returning when he was
supposed to be the WWE champ!) They can't just use his name for everything I mean this is the second year that's he's had this match and it's for the main event of the biggest show of the year they should be able to come up with a descent storyline. Seriously. They need to have something more than just Rock's name attached they need to have a compelling storyline. I'm interested to see what the buy rates for this years wrestlemania are compared to last year. Probably not too much of a decrease yet but what are they going to do when people stop caring that the Rock and John Cena are going to be there and they actually want a compelling storyline to watch?

They also can't simply just sell every big event off the Rock and John Cena's name and couple other big stars and then not build hardly anyone else up all year to take their places. The days of wwe being able to rely on stars that they've built up years ago are ending. The Triple Hs and Undertakers of the wwe are going to be gone soon and then what does wwe do when they have no new stars to sell the shows? The only semi new big star in a big match at wrestlemania was CM Punk and I guess Fandango. Where was the new big star Cody Rhodes or The Miz oh that's right they didn't keep them built up. Most of the mid card feuds going into the show were very bad this year especially with the supposed to be world heavyweight champion jobbing......again.

I'll get into this more in another article but I'm hoping that now after wrestlemania they start to build more people up like Wade Barrett, Antonio Cesaro, and others to become future big stars of the company.

Main Event: Team Rhodes Scholars vs Tons of Funk

No I'm just kidding apparently they ran out of time on the show because this match was never on it. Which is kind of sad considering how these two in the near future should be the future of the tag team division and have the potential to eventually become big stars in the company. But that goes back to what I was talking about before burying these superstars now is preventing them from possibly becoming the next breakout stars and main eventers for wwe.

All in all the show itself was mostly enjoyable for me with Undertaker vs Punk being the best match, HHH vs Brock being second and Cena vs Rock third. The build up though was terrible even for a normal ppv and this is supposed to be their super bowl. It also makes me worried for the time when people like The Undertaker and Triple H aren't there anymore.

Thanks for reading this article, be sure to tell me all of your thoughts on everything that I discussed on Twitter: ENC98, Youtube: ENC98TV, and Facebook: Enc Wwe. Pro Wrestling Review: Wrestlemania Predictions part 1

In less than 24 hours this year's wrestlemania will go on the air. In this edition of Pro Wrestling Review I will be giving my predictions on the matches at wrestlemania and what I've been thinking of the feuds leading into them.

Pre Show: IC Champion Wade Barrett vs The Miz

I had been liking what they were doing with The Miz and Antonio Cesaro's feud a few months ago but now it seems like they're getting lost in the shuffle. Even though I think Miz is much better suited as a heel they were actually building him up as a face but now they've done what they do with many other young stars they build them up really good and then just forget about them, they figure that they're built up enough so they don't have to do anything more with them.Wrong all that does is make all the build up useless, just look at Cody Rhodes. Now they're doing the same thing with Antonio, Miz, and Wade Barrett.

As for Wade Barrett ever since he's come back last year I've been waiting for him to really break out as a big star but even though he is the Intercontinental champion he hasn't been doing much at all. He really needs to be in a big feud, it looked like he was starting something with with Bo Dallas but nothing ever came of it.  They could have really made this the feud that both of these guys need but instead it's on the pre show? To quote the Miz really?

Both of these guys need to be featured in a big way at wrestlemania because they're big and upcoming stars. Then also I don't even think that the U.S. champion Cesaro even has a match on the card. The wwe should have done a much better job with these guys this year.

As for who I think will win, I'm gonna go with The Miz because Wades been champ for a while. I hope that this feud goes into Extreme Rules and I hope that they really start to pick it up them.

Pick: The Miz

Team Rhodes Scholors vs Tons of Funk

This match shouldn't even be on the card. I did like what they did with the feud on the last episode of smackdown but this is still a pointless match. The Team Rhodes Scholars are supposed to be the future of the tag team division since team hell no will probably split up soon. I don't know why they haven't won the titles  yet I would've had them win the belts at the Royal Rumble. They also need to think about the careers of Damian Sandow and Cody Rhodes, Those two have tons of talent and I hate to see them used this way.

I really hope that Rhodes and Sandow get the win here. I think that wwe could get them back on track with a win. As for tons of funk I'm not against the team it's not like either of them would be doing anything else but I really hope that they don't win this match. I could see wwe kind of making a joke of this match and haveing tons of funk get a win just for a feel good moment and I really hope that doesn't happen.

If I was booking it I'd have Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd vs Tons of Funk and then team hell no vs Rhodes Scholars. Or Tyson Kidd and Gabriel vs Rhodes Scholars.

Pick: Team Rhodes Scholars

Chris Jericho vs Fandango

Even though I think that it's way too early for Fandango to be having this match I have been liking the feud. I'm guessing that it will go into Extreme Rules probably and just by Jericho in the match makes it important so then Fandango will seem important. Although I think that there are a lot of other young stars that could have benefited from a match will Jericho more such as Dolph Ziggler or Wade Barrett.

I'm guessing that Fandango will get the win here, then he can say that he won his first ever match against Jericho at wrestlemania. Then maybe Jericho can win at Extreme Rules. I'm also interested to see how Fandango is in the ring, I don't remember how he was as Johnny Curtis so I'm hoping that he's pretty good. Either way I'm guessing that Jericho will make it a good match.

Pick: Fandango

Ryback vs Mark Henry

This is going to be a good showdown just because it's two of the biggest guys in wwe. I hope that they don't try to do a technical match because that probably won't work, if they go all over the arena throwing each other into and onto things I that would be good. I'm expecting Ryback to get the win because his career is just starting out where as Mark Henry's is starting to wind down. I hope that they can make both people look good, maybe have Henry get mad after the match and beat up somebody. I really hope that Mark Henry isn't just back for wrestlemania, I'd love to see him back as world heavyweight champion again  It would help smackdown a ton and be very entertaining.

Pick: Ryback
